Use it when the file must stay small
A 1 MB target can work for short PDFs, small evidence documents, or scan-based files where 300 KB and 500 KB make the result too soft. Use the target shown by the actual upload workflow.

1 MB is still a small target, but it gives more room than 300 KB or 500 KB. Use it when the upload workflow asks for about 1 MB and the document still needs readable scans, stamps, or small text.
Before preparing
Clean up pages first
Remove extra pages, rotate pages where supported, and add only photos or visible signature marks that belong in the final PDF. A focused source file gives the 1 MB target more room for readable content.
Review
Check readability and file warnings
Preview the prepared version, zoom into small text, and check warnings before clean export. If the result is hard to read and the upload allows more than 1 MB, use the larger target.
