Visa document blocked

Visa document PDF too large? Prepare it before upload.

Visa documents can be passports, certificates, letters, financial records, forms, or evidence packets. The right size target depends on the destination, not on a universal visa rule.

Identify the document type

  • A passport bio page may need a different target than a certificate or evidence letter.
  • A validated form may need to stay untouched.
  • A multi-page evidence file may need a larger allowed limit to stay readable.

Pick the destination rule

  • Use India e-Visa guidance only for document types covered by its current instructions.
  • Use CEAC for CEAC/NVC-style 2 MB uploads.
  • Use IRCC only when the account or application path matches IRCC limits.

Prepare without damaging the evidence

  • Review seals, stamps, handwritten notes, and fine print.
  • Avoid unnecessary OCR or PDF/A-2b when the size target is tight.
  • Keep the original until the destination accepts the upload.

If the file is still rejected

  • Check file type and filename rules.
  • Check whether the PDF is password-protected, modifiable, or a validated form.
  • Check whether the portal is asking for a different document or category.
