PDF Ready

IRCC upload sizes

Prepare PDFs for IRCC upload size limits

IRCC file-size limits vary by account and application type. PDF Ready can help prepare 2 MB and 4 MB paths, but 3 MB is only a PDF Ready balanced preset, not an official IRCC channel.

What current IRCC help says

  • IRCC says file size limits vary by online account type. Current examples include IRCC secure account at 4 MB and IRCC Portal at 2 MB. Source: IRCC file size limit help page.
  • Accepted file types also vary by account type; check the current IRCC file type help. Source: IRCC accepted file type help page.
  • Permanent Residence Portal and asylum examples can differ from ordinary IRCC Portal uploads.

How to choose 2 MB, 3 MB, or 4 MB

  • Use 2 MB when your IRCC path or account says 2 MB.
  • Use 4 MB when your account/application path clearly allows 4 MB.
  • Use 3 MB only as a PDF Ready balance when you want more room than 2 MB and still need a conservative prepared copy; it is not an official IRCC account type.

Be careful with forms

  • Some IRCC PDFs are validated forms with barcodes or embedded behavior.
  • Keep validated forms untouched unless the destination instructions allow a prepared copy.
  • For scanned supporting documents, review readability and accepted formats before export.

Review before upload

  • Check file size, format, and target before clean export.
  • Open the prepared PDF and inspect text and images.
  • If IRCC rejects a file under the limit, investigate format, account type, filename, and form behavior.

IRCC account check before Prepare

  • Identify whether you are uploading through an IRCC secure account, IRCC Portal, Permanent Residence Portal, asylum portal, citizenship path, or another specific flow.
  • Use the file-size limit shown for that account type, not a generic IRCC guess.
  • Check accepted file types as well as size; a file can be the right size and still the wrong type.
  • Keep validated forms and barcode PDFs in their original state unless IRCC instructions say a prepared copy is acceptable.

FAQ

Common questions

Is 3 MB an official IRCC limit?

No. PDF Ready may show 3 MB as a balanced preset, but official IRCC examples are tied to account and application types such as 2 MB or 4 MB.

Which IRCC path uses 4 MB?

Current IRCC help lists examples such as IRCC secure account, asylum portal, and Permanent Residence Portal at 4 MB. Check your current account instructions.

Should I compress a validated IRCC form?

Usually no unless IRCC instructions allow it. Keep validated forms and barcode PDFs untouched when the form behavior matters.
