Merge or split PDFs before Prepare
Combine files when the upload needs one PDF, or split a PDF when only some pages belong in the upload. Then continue with Prepare on the new source document.
Guide
Combine files when the upload needs one PDF, or split a PDF when only some pages belong in the upload. Then continue with Prepare on the new source document.
Step 1
Open the app menu in PDF Ready and choose Merge to combine files into one source PDF. Split starts from the same menu flow when only some pages belong in the upload. When the new file appears in Originals, continue with Prepare only if that new source document still needs route or size work.
When to merge
Use merge when the destination clearly expects a single combined PDF or when supporting pages need to travel together as one source document.
When to split
Use split when one document contains extra pages that do not belong in the upload or when one PDF needs to become smaller source files for separate handling.
Merge result
After merge, the combined file becomes a new document in Originals. Treat that merged PDF as the new source document for the next step.
Split result
After split, each result becomes its own source document in Originals. Prepare each one separately only if it really belongs in the upload flow.
Next step
Merge and split happen before route, size, and options. Once the new source document is right, open Prepare and continue with GENERAL, IRCC, or CEAC.
Boundary
Merge or split does not replace review or clean export. Final outputs still follow the current product rules and remain a separate last step.
Disclaimer: Merge and split are one-off document prep tools before Prepare. They do not make PDF Ready a document-management suite.
