PDF Ready

Guide

Open a PDF from another app

When a PDF is already in Files, Downloads, Telegram, Gmail, or another app, use Open with PDF Ready. The file lands in Originals first, and only then do you decide whether to prepare a new version.

Imports to Originals first Prepare happens afterwards On-device by default

Quick view

Bring the file in first. Prepare later.

This import path keeps the product story simple. PDF Ready first stores the file as a local source document, then you choose GENERAL, IRCC, CEAC, or another exact-size path only when you really need a prepared result.

  • In the other app, open the system Share or Open with menu and choose PDF Ready.
  • Wait for the Imported to Originals confirmation.
  • Open the file from Originals before you prepare anything.

System share sheet

The exact menu can vary by app

Some apps say Open with. Others start from Share. The share sheet itself lives in the other app, so the screenshot below focuses on the sign inside PDF Ready that confirms the handoff worked.

PDF Ready showing the Imported to Originals confirmation after a PDF arrives from another app
After you choose PDF Ready in the other app, this Imported to Originals message confirms the handoff. From there, open the file in Originals before you prepare anything.

Step 1

Confirm the import and continue from Originals

After you choose PDF Ready in the other app, PDF Ready opens and shows the Imported to Originals message. That confirmation is the moment when the file has really landed in the app. From there, use it from Originals as your source document before you open Prepare for portal.

Protected or no-touch files

Some files need Unlock or should stay untouched

If the imported PDF is password-protected, PDF Ready may ask you to unlock it first. If the file depends on a digital signature, desktop validation, or dynamic XFA behavior, keep the original file instead of forcing a transformed copy.

Disclaimer: PDF Ready does not guarantee final acceptance. Portal rules can still reject a file.
